What no one else will put in writing

The car breaks. You still get paid.

Text us at any hour. We move you into another vehicle, and you do not pay rent for the days you could not drive — prorated, posted to your portal.

Section 5.4 of the agreement you sign, not a favour we might do if we like you. Ask any Marketplace rental in this city to put that in a contract.

How the swap works
Your weekly math
Typical gig earnings/week$1,250
Weekly rent−$370
Gas (avg)−$140
Your own commercial policy−$55
Take home weekly$685
Estimates only. Gas and insurance costs vary by driver, vehicle and coverage. Your own commercial coverage is required and is your cost.

Check this before you apply

Start here, not at the application. Every platform sets its own rules about which car it will accept, and we would rather you find out now than after you have a car in your hand. Tap any platform to read its own requirements, then match them against the car you want.

2 platforms set a model year — Uber wants 2011 or newer, Lyft goes back to 2007. 4 set none. 2 care about the size of the car instead: both want a midsize sedan or larger, and Veho needs the driver to be 25. Rules vary by city and change, so the platform's own page is the one that counts.

Where the work is

Charlotte’s gig geography on one map — the airport queue, the Uptown commute, the South End dinner rush, the grocery baskets out south. Your first week is easier if you know where to point the car.

The markers show how gig work moves across the city. They are not T-Gigs vehicles and not live positions — we do not publish vehicle locations. Areas are labelled by the kind of work they are known for, as a starting point for a new driver, not as earnings data.

About the insurance question

You bring the coverage.

Rideshare and delivery driving is excluded from a normal personal auto policy. You need your own commercial or rideshare-endorsed policy, in your name, in force for the whole time you have the car.

Your policy must list Tassy Trucks LLC d/b/a Tassy Transportation as additional insured and loss payee and name the car’s VIN. We verify the certificate with your insurer before you get the keys, and again at every renewal. No verified policy, no car — there is no exception.

Ask your current insurer for a rideshare or TNC endorsement, or ask us and we’ll point you to agents who specialize in gig drivers. T-Gigs is not an insurance company.

When something breaks

How the swap works

Every cheap rental in Charlotte has the same hole in it — when the car dies, your week dies with it. Here is what happens instead, in three steps, all of them written into the agreement.

1. Text us, any hour

One number, 24/7. (704) 941-8508. A person, not a ticket queue.

2. We swap the car

Another vehicle from the fleet so your blocks and your ratings survive the repair.

3. We credit the days

Prorated rent credit for every day the car was down through no fault of yours. It posts to your portal automatically.

Ask any Marketplace rental in this city to put that in a contract. We already did.

Common questions

What does $370/week cover?+
$370/week is the whole weekly price for the car, with maintenance and tax included and 1,400 miles a week ($0.15 a mile beyond that). You also pay a $100 refundable deposit upfront — most drivers get every penny back when they return the car clean and undamaged. Beyond that: your own commercial rideshare insurance, gas, and tolls. No setup fee. Four-week minimum commitment (per the Rental Agreement §3), then week-to-week.
How fast can I really drive away with a car?+
Your identity is verified electronically, so that part is quick. If you already have an active Uber, Lyft, DoorDash or Amazon Flex account with at least 30 trips in the last 30 days, we waive our own background check as well — your platform already ran one. Approval is not the keys: the step that sets the pace is your insurance, because we confirm your commercial coverage with your insurer before a car is released, and that has no exception. Have your policy and endorsements lined up before you apply and you are driving as soon as we can reach your carrier.
Will this car work for the platform I drive?+
Check before you apply — the platform list on this page links straight to each one's own requirements. Only Uber and Lyft set a model year: Uber wants 2011 or newer, Lyft goes back to 2007. Food and grocery platforms set none. Amazon Flex and Veho care about size rather than age — both want a midsize sedan or larger, and Veho needs the driver to be 25. Every car we list says what it is cleared for, including what it is not.
What if I crash the car?+
Your own commercial rideshare policy is the coverage that responds — that is why we require it before you get the keys. You are responsible for your deductible and for any costs your policy does not cover, including damage to the car. T-Gigs is not an insurance company.
Can I rent for personal use too?+
Yes — drive for any purpose. 1,400 miles/week included; $0.15/mile after that. Some platforms require the car be used primarily for gig work.
What if the car breaks down and I lose a week of work?+
Text us and we move you into another vehicle. You are credited the rent for the days you could not drive, prorated, posted to your portal. Section 5.4 of the rental agreement. We do not charge you for our maintenance problems.
How do I cancel or return the car?+
Rentals are week-to-week with a four-week minimum commitment. When you're ready to return, call us at (704) 941-8508 at least 7 days before — we'll schedule a 30-minute drop-off and inspection. The week of your return is your final charge. Refundable deposit comes back to your card within 7 business days, less any damages or unpaid fees per the Rental Agreement §3.5.
Who owns T-Gigs?+
T-Gigs is owned and operated by Tassy Trucks LLC d/b/a Tassy Transportation — a Charlotte, NC veteran-owned company founded by Phil Tassy, a U.S. Army veteran (six years in logistics and operations). T-Gigs is the gig-driver rental arm of that same company — same owner, same standards, same Charlotte phone number. SDVOSB-Certified · U.S. Army Veteran · Based in Charlotte, NC.
